We, and when I say we, I mean the royal we - my wife and I - are big believers in the "getaway." This summer, I took 5 weeks off to spend time with our family (H + D) and Lora. In the middle of that, she and I took a road trip to Austin, Tx and spent a few day at Hotel St. Cecilia.
The hotel is nestled into the heart of downtown, right off of S. Congress. You wouldn't believe that it's there - except one quick left turn and there it is, a hidden gem right in the epicenter of the energy and bustle.
It's probably one of our new favorite places to stay. We were tucked into a poolside bungalow filled with soft morning light, complete with a record player (records available at the front desk). We swooned to Miles Davis and Van Morrison over french press and light classic european fare.
They gave us great recommendations for dinner, and we adored The Launderette and (new and bit of a wait, but they got us on the short list and we snagged yummies in no time).
We try to "get away" at least 2 times a year.. and this time Lora snagged "36 questions to fall in love" from a fav NYT article she read. We've been married for almost 7 years, and there is always more to know and new things to draw out from each other... if you need ideas for good "date night" practices... check that out.
Cheers!
Eric
